FAQ

Q: I AM USED TO EATING FAST FOOD AND MICROWAVE DINNERS AND HAVE NEVER COOKED A MEAL IN MY LIFE. CAN I DO THIS?

A: Yes! All of the KitchOut meals are created with that in mind, so we provide informative, fun videos for you to watch. You actually SEE the meal before you make it, every step of the way. An ingredient list that you print and take with you makes for fast, easy shopping trips. No more wasted food at the end of the week, as you use all that you buy in the meals during the week. It actually will save you money and be so much tastier, not to mention HEALTHY!

Q: MY KIDS ARE PICKY EATERS. HOW WILL I GET THEM TO EAT THIS? THEY ARE USED TO FAST FOOD!

A: Get your kids involved in the process. Kids like to feel helpful and are proud of what they do, so let them do something. Have them peel vegetables, measure dry ingredients, or set the table. Eat together and focus on what they contributed during the meal time talk. Kids are more likely to eat and enjoy food they helped make!

Q:THERE ARE ONLY 5 DINNERS FOR THE WEEK INSTEAD OF 7. WHY IS THAT?

A: Great point. Actually, most families don’t eat at home every night of the week. Sporting events, social engagements and varying schedules for many families made it more practical for us to provide you with 5 meals for the week. Leftovers happen, too!

Q: HOW MANY SERVINGS DO THESE RECIPES MAKE?

A: The recipes are generally written to make 2 servings, with instructions for increasing servings, too. The videos do not specify quantities, only techniques and general times, so you can easily follow the videos no matter the servings you are preparing. Many people that are gluten-free are preparing meals for just themselves that this made more sense to us.

Q: I HAVE OTHER DIETARY RESTRICTIONS BESIDES GLUTEN. WILL THESE RECIPES WORK FOR ME?

A: While we can’t provide for every single food issue there is, we realize that many people have more than one food issue, so each recipe is clearly labeled. Substitution suggestions are provided along with variations on the recipe. KitchOut also provides other specialty plans that may be better suited for your specific dietary needs.

Q: I WANT TO LOSE SOME WEIGHT. ARE THESE MENUS GOING TO HELP WITH THAT?

A: While the gluten-free dinner program is not a “weight loss” or “diet” program, eating fresh foods in moderate portions is a healthy way to eat without the stress and burden of counting calories. By learning to eat fresh foods (NO PRESERVATIVES) in reasonable portion sizes, and by balancing protein, carbohydrates and fat, you will be gaining lifetime skills that will withstand the latest diet fads and trends. Getting moderate exercise and drinking plenty of water are also recommended.

Q: I DON’T HAVE FANCY COOKING EQUIPMENT OR ACCESS TO SPECIALTY FOODS. WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO PREPARE THE MEALS?

A: Yes. All of the recipes are designed to be made with basic kitchen equipment using readily available ingredients. If a special tool is used to prepare the meal, we provide an alternative method, too. The ingredients will generally be available at most major supermarkets. We recommend shopping at local farmers markets for fresh seasonal produce, whenever possible. If you have limited access to ingredients, there are many mail-order options available.
