1 cup white basmati rice
2 teaspoons vegetable oil or butter, if using
1/4 teaspoon salt
1. Soak Rice: Cover rice with water and let soak for 15 minutes. Drain rice through a mesh strainer. Do not rinse. Set aside.
2. Boil Rice: Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil over high heat. Add 2 teaspoons cooking oil or butter, salt and rice. Stir gently to combine. Return to a boil and cook until most of the water is absorbed, about 6 to 8 minutes.
3. Simmer Rice: Cover saucepan, reduce heat to very low and cook for an additional 6 to 10 minutes until rice is dry and fluffy. Fluff rice with fork. Enjoy!
