Serves: 4
Prep Time: 7 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes
3 green onions, sliced thin, divided
1 Tablespoon minced fresh ginger
1 Tablespoon minced fresh garlic
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 Tablespoon roasted/toasted sesame oil
1 cup white basmati rice
1 1/4 cups water
1 jasmine/green tea bags
2 Tablespoons rice vinegar
salt and black pepper to taste
1. Cook Aromatics: In a medium saucepan, cook 2 of the green onions, ginger, garlic and pepper flakes in oil over medium-low heat until fragrant, about 1 minute.
2. Add Rice: Add rice and stir to coat with oil. Saute 1 minute.
3. Add Water: Add water and tea bags to rice, increase heat to high and bring to a boil.
4. Simmer Rice: When rice comes to a boil, cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer rice until all of the water is absorbed, about 20 minutes.
5. Rest Rice: Remove from heat and let rice rest, off heat, for 10 minutes.
6. Finish Rice: Remove tea bags and discard. Fluff rice with fork. Season rice with vinegar, salt and pepper and stir to combine. Garnish with remaining green onions and serve. Enjoy!
